The uses of medical stereolithography models include:

•  Improved visualisation of anatomical features such as tumors
•  Communication betweeen doctors, and with patients
•  Rehearsal of surgical procedures - cutting, drilling and re-positioning of parts can be practised
   on the model
•  Plates and pins needed for reconstructive surgery can be precisely fitted on the model prior to surgery
   so that operation time can be reduced
•  Prototypes for implants can be built by stereolithography and their fit checked on a model. The parts are
    then fabricated from the stereolithography prototype.
