Huntsman European Base Chemicals operates some major pipelines and one of the key stretches makes up the Trans-Pennine Ethylene Pipeline from Wilton on Teesside to the Runcorn area of Merseyside. The pipeline transports ethylene produced on the Huntsman 'Cracker' plant at Wilton across the North of England Pennines to the North West of England around Merseyside. 

Although Huntsman has only a very small number of direct staff based in the Runcorn area, their role is a key one in terms of operating and servicing the North West of England section of the ethylene distribution system to our customers on Merseyside and further afield.

The Trans-Pennine Ethylene pipeline is one of a network of four similar pipelines traversing Southern Scotland and Northern England, distributing ethylene between source manufacturers and customers. 

These pipelines are very important to the country's regional economies and to the upstream manufacturers who use ethylene to make the essential everyday products that our modern lifestyles depend on. Above all, the pipelines are operated, maintained and developed to the highest possible standards of safety and care for the environment.
