| Araldite® adhesives flying high | |
| Working with engineers from Rolls-Royce and the University of Sheffield in Great Britain, adhesive experts from Huntsman developed a unique epoxy-based syntactic for use in Rolls Royce’s Trent 900 engine – the lead engine for the Airbus A380 super jumbo jet. | ![]() |
| Araldite 1641 is a lightweight adhesive solution designed for injection into the hollow vanes of the titanium blades that guide air through aircraft engines. Replacing traditional honeycomb and line-core materials, Araldite 1641 adhesive is capable of absorbing vibrational energy at a wide range of temperatures and provides improved foreign object damage tolerance. Each Trent 900 engine holds approximately 0.5 litres of Araldite adhesive. | |
| Benefits • Lightweight adhesive • Absorbs vibrational energy • Performs at a wide range of temperatures • Improved damage tolerance to foreign objects |
