The Greatham Site
|
The Greatham Site is situated on Greenabella marsh at OS Map reference NZ 515266. It is located near the mouth of the Tees estuary, adjacent to the Seal Sands mudflats. The factory itself is situated on the A178 on the north-west bank of Seaton channel. The site comprises the plant next to the road and a large area of undeveloped, former saltmarsh, which is now separated from the Channel by the sea-wall embankment. This embankment has consolidated the site and prevents tidal flooding. Figure 2 (PDF) shows the site and its boundaries.
