Recommendations for Future Biodiversity Management

The wildlife of the Greatham site has been surveyed in more detail than any other Tioxide location and there are a number of well-established conservation projects in place. In addition to encouraging the continued recording of flora and fauna and supporting existing conservation projects on the site it is recommended that consideration is also given to the following:

  • Investigate habitat management to encourage nesting Redshank
  • Create breeding islands for terns
  • Co-operate with wider conservation issues around the estuary, in particular the creation of Saline pool habitat on land adjacent to the site.
