Reptiles and Amphibians

No reptiles have been recorded on, or adjacent to, the Tioxide site at Greatham.
Three species of amphibians are known to be present, Common Frog (Rana temporaria), Common Toad (Buffo buffo) and Smooth Newt (Triturus vulgaris
At times huge numbers of frogs and toads can occur on the site. Frog and toad tadpole densities in some years have been estimated in some pools at 500 m2 giving a total estimate of 4,000,000 individuals (Marron 1992).
