Umbogintwini, South Africa
A number of habitats occur on the Tioxide production site and include
scrub and woodlands, open, short-cut grassland, formally planted landscaped
areas and industrial
structures and buildings. The wildlife and biodiversity of the Tioxide property
however, must be considered as a part of the ecology of the overall industrial
complex. This covers about 519 ha. of which 50% is currently undeveloped. These
wild areas are important wildlife habitats and two sites in particular, Umbogavango
and Mamba Valley, have been designated by AECI as reserves with Tioxide and
other companies on the complex co-operating in their management (see
Birds of the Production
Site). |
