West Site, Billingham, UK Other Animals Large numbers of Goldfish (Carassius auratus) and a few Carp (Cyprinus carpio) are present in the pond. Some of these fish are large. Blackbirds were recorded and almost certainly breed in the shrub areas. Swifts and Swallows were hawking insects over the site. When seeding the abundant thistles attract Goldfinches and Linnets. Kestrel is often observed hunting. More intensive bird surveys covering all seasons will certainly show that many more bird species use the site.
