West Site, Billingham, UK

The site is located at Billingham on the original Tioxide site in northeast England
(see Figure 11). There is now no production, the site being used for research and administration.

The undeveloped part of West site consists of a triangular shaped piece of land along the north western boundary with New Road. Formerly a storage silo occupied this site and when this was removed in 1995 the landscape mounds were created and a small pool was excavated. The area can be divided into five sub-habitats, (i) non-thistle dominated grassland, (ii) rough grassland dominated by thistles, (iii) shrub areas west, (iv) shrub area north and (v) a small pool. These are shown in Figure 12 .
