Huntsman Textile Effects commemorates 50th anniversary of its Mexico manufacturing facility

Pioneering sustainable innovation, committed to continuous improvement and a trusted partner to the textile industry and local community

Atotonilquillo, Mexico and Singapore -- Huntsman Textile Effect is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its primary manufacturing facility in the Americas. The plant in Atotonilquillo, Mexico is one of Textile Effects’ global centers producing dyes and chemicals for customers in the Americas and around the world.

“Huntsman Textile Effects is proud to celebrate this momentous milestone of its Atoto plant, which is the only plant that synthesizes dyes and chemicals in the Americas. Its sophisticated processes, relentless focus on quality, commitment to environmental, health and safety standards and the rich technical expertise of its people have contributed to its capacity expansions,” said Paul Hulme, President of Textile Effects.

Over the past 50 years, the manufacturing facility has built a reputation for excellence in manufacturing a broad range of innovative dye and chemicals. These include LANASET®, TERASIL®, TERATOP® and ERIOFAST® dyes for apparel, automotive and active wear. It also produces UV-FAST®, ULTRATEX® and SAPAMINE® chemicals for sun protection, whitening and softening effects for a broad range of end markets including automotive, apparel and home textiles.

“Through continuous investment and technology improvements of more than US$50 million since 2010, the Atoto facility uses state-of-the-art manufacturing and effluent treatment processes to drive a more sustainable textile industry,” said Mr Hulme.

Atoto’s ongoing investment will include an additional USD5 million in the next 12-15 months to expand its product portfolio to meet growing demand in polyester active wear and automotive in this region.

Atoto’s 50th anniversary was commemorated at a ceremony at the plant officiated by Mr Enrique Dau, Special Advisor and Representative of the Office of the Governor of Jalisco and Mr Gerardo Rodriguez, Secretary of Labor, State of Jalisco. It was attended by more than 150 guests, including customers, representatives from local government authorities, business associations and community organizations.

"For decades, Huntsman Textile Effects’ collaboration with the community and government organizations has allowed them to build a sustainable future. On behalf of the Federal Government, we congratulate and encourage Huntsman to continue working towards a sustainable future for Jalisco," said Mr. Gerardo Rodriguez.

The Atoto manufacturing facility, supported by chemical formulation centers in the US, Guatemala, Columbia and Brazil, enables Textile Effects to serve customers in the region with greater speed and flexibility. Textile Effects has consistently collaborated with partners and other stakeholders to develop innovative and sustainable practices that meet the industry’s stringent environmental regulations.

The Atoto plant is ISO 9001 certified, assuring consistent quality and rigorous attention to maintaining high standards of performance and the demands of exceptional product quality.

From its inception in 1965 with 44 employees, the Atoto plant has expanded its production capacity and capability. Today, it employees more than 350 employees and produces more than 150 dye and chemical products that are used by global brands, retailers and customers around the world.
