Huntsman India Honored with Six Awards for EHS Performance

BARODA, India – Huntsman’s Textile Effects division, the global leader in innovative and environmentally sustainable dyes, chemicals, and digital inks, was recently recognized with six awards by the Dyestuffs Manufacturers Association of India (DMAI) at a ceremony held in Mumbai. The awards recognize the environmental, health and safety performance of Huntsman’s facility in Baroda, India, from 2019-2021. The 2019-2020 awards ceremony was postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions. 

“Huntsman is honored by this recognition from DMAI,” said Rahul Tikoo, Managing Director of India for Huntsman. “The awards, given in the areas of safety and hazard control, energy conservation, water conservation and pollution control, underscore our commitment to society as a sustainable corporate citizen.”  

The six awards received by the Baroda facility include: 

  • Excellent performance in Safety & Hazards Control by a Large-Scale Unit for 2019-2020 
  • Excellent performance in Water Conservation by a Large-Scale Unit for 2019-2020  
  • Excellent performance in Energy Conservation by a Large-Scale Unit for 2019-2020
  • Excellent performance in Pollution Control by a Large-Scale Unit for 2019-2020 
  • Excellent performance in Energy Conservation by a Large-Scale Unit for 2020-2021 
  • Excellent performance in Water Conservation by a Large-Scale Unit for 2020-2021

“While the focus isn’t on winning awards, this achievement reflects the teamwork, EHS culture and continuous improvement focus on water and energy conservation achieved at the Baroda plant,” said Kavishwar Kalambe, Site Director of the Baroda Plant. “Huntsman strives to achieve the best possible balance between ecological and social needs through safe and environmentally sound processes.”  

The DMAI awards are based on criteria such as innovation, creativity, development, and quality in the field of dye manufacturing.
