There is little doubt that demand for green roofs is growing steadily but there are pockets of industry where practical ‘technology’ concerns are hampering take up. Some roofing professionals believe that green roofs are difficult to fit, time consuming and labor intensive. For building specifiers and owners question marks remain about the suitability of green roof systems for retrofitting older buildings where structural strength is a major consideration. There are also uncertainties about maintenance and longevity.

Fabio Invernizzi from Huntsman – an expert in lightweight green roof technologies – spoke to RCI to set the record straight, revealing just how easy modern green roof substrates are to install – regardless of building age, size or shape.
