OBO and Huntsman Advanced Materials become one European face to market in tooling activities

Basel, 9th May 2014 - OBO-Werke, a tooling materials specialist based in Stadthagen, Germany has taken another step in its growth by way of an acquisition and a distribution agreement. OBO is taking over the European tooling board and tooling paste materials business from its long-term partner Huntsman Advanced Materials. Specifically, OBO is acquiring production assets and licences to produce and sell Huntsman Advanced Materials` Renshape® and Renpaste® products in Europe used in model construction, tool making and mould production. Furthermore, OBO has been appointed as Huntsman Advanced Materials’ master distributor for the distribution of its full range of tooling liquids in almost all European markets.

Commenting on the announcement, OBO`s MD Kurt Hüther said, “This transaction demonstrates our commitment to serve our clients in the tooling market based on the best available solutions. With the new range of products based on polyurethane and epoxy resins added to our current portfolio we are becoming a full-range provider for prototyping and mould making in Europe. With Huntsman as our long-term partner we can leverage our strength focussing on this niche market. Hence, we will continue to concentrate on service orientation and high flexibility in the best interest of our clients.”

For Huntsman, European Marketing Director, Gino Ceccopieri added, “Our agreement with OBO enables us to show one face to the European tooling market. Together, we are going to be able to provide distributors and customers a comprehensive portfolio of offerings in the European tooling market, which presents an excellent opportunity to restore growth in this business through our close collaboration and partnership.”

Since 2003, OBO-Werke has been a wholly owned subsidiary of MBB Industries AG, a family-owned, medium-sized corporation. OBO has doubled its sales to around €12 million since 2009. A further significant increase in revenues will result from this transaction.
