Power Transmission and Distribution

For over 50 years, Huntsman has supplied global customers with insulating thermoset materials for insulators and bushings, generators, switchgears, distribution/instrument transformers, and motors for utility and industrial applications. Our comprehensive product portfolio consists of high-performance epoxy-based and polyurethane-based systems which are free of any volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and thus offer an environmentally safer alternative to solvent-borne systems.

Huntsman’s products are designed to provide an extended service life and meet specific industry requirements for electrical insulation in indoor and outdoor environments. They are supported with a thorough technical data package which includes thermal conductivity, mechanical properties, shrinkage, water absorption and flame retardancy properties.

Huntsman is the industry pioneer in process technology to produce ethylene and propylene carbonates, sold under the ULTRAPURE® tradename, with the extremely high purity needed for use as solvents in the production of lithium ion batteries for energy storage use for both power grid and home use.

Wind

As a global partner with many decades of experience, Huntsman provides wind energy equipment manufacturers with reliable, durable and cost-effective solutions for wind blade production. Capturing the maximum amount of energy from the wind requires blades to be large, rigid and robust enough to withstand extreme weather conditions. Huntsman provides the technologies and materials the industry needs. Our high-performance products can be found in a wide-range of applications from plugs and patterns, to complete composite blade production as well as assembly and repair.  We are the largest global producer of polyetheramines, a critical component to the evolution of longer blades. Huntsman's JEFFAMINE® products provide long working times, allowing epoxy resins to spread through the largest blade molds before curing.
