Huntsman Develops New Technology That Can Improve PIR Panel Production

New advanced approach will be discussed at UTECH Europe conference

Everberg, Belgium - At this year’s UTECH Europe, Huntsman will be showcasing its total innovation network for the polyurethanes industry. Demonstrating how Huntsman goes further for its customers, Kristof Dedecker, Innovation Manager, will present a conference paper, outlining the availability of a novel DaltoPIR® technology, which has the potential to transform the production of fire retardant, polyisocyanurate (PIR) sandwich panels.

On the first day of the UTECH Europe conference, Kristof will highlight the step change Huntsman’s new technology offers when it comes to PIR panel production and performance, and the significant advantages it offers over aromatic polyester-based systems.

Huntsman’s new DaltoPIR® technology offers a different viscosity build up in rising foam, which enables more stable, more consistent processing. This in turn can help panel producers achieve better panel planarity and quicker line speeds. Furthermore, the resulting foam has very low friability, which contributes positively to the long-term properties of panels.

In his UTECH Europe conference paper, Kristof will outline the excellent results achieved in durability tests where panels were subjected to long temperature cycles and aesthetic properties were continuously monitored.

Huntsman’s new DaltoPIR® technology has been fully integrated into a novel product portfolio, which contains a range of different foam systems for various laminator conditions and fire rating standards.

Kristof Dedecker’s presentation at UTECH Europe will take place on Tuesday 29 May at 2:30pm in the Florin Room at the Maastricht MECC.
