Huntsman to Exhibit, Share Research on Advanced Resin Technologies at SPE ACCE 2016

THE WOODLANDS, Texas — Huntsman Corporation (NYSE: HUN) announced that it will showcase high-performance products designed to solve automotive design challenges at the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Automotive Composites Conference & Exhibition (ACCE), Sept. 7-9, at the Diamond Banquet & Conference Center in Novi, Mich.

At booths P14 and P15, Huntsman’s Advanced Materials and Polyurethanes divisions will exhibit epoxy and polyurethane resins for structural composite applications, epoxy structural adhesives for assembly and polyurethane systems for seating and acoustical applications.

“Our low viscosity, fast cure VITROX® and RIMLINE® resins, paired with Huntsman know-how on molding processes ranging from resin transfer molding to pultrusion, will enable high productivity of structural vehicle elements with high strength and toughness for crash critical applications,” said David Bareis, Market Development Manager, Polyurethane Composites, Huntsman Polyurethanes.

Huntsman products also help meet the demand for faster processing and reduced production cycles.

“Our new ARALDITE® liquid compression molding system offers a 30-second snap cure and exhibits excellent demolding stiffness, enabling demold times as fast as thermoplastics,” said Adam Harms, Marketing Manager, Automotive, Huntsman Advanced Materials.

A polyurethanes expert will also share novel applications for Huntsman’s VITROX technology in the following technical session:

Session 21: Advances in Thermoset Composites
Thursday, Sept. 8, 2:30 to 3 p.m.
“Development of Polyurethane Sheet Molding Compound”
Presenter: Daniel Park, Fraunhofer Project Centre for Composites Research
Co-author: Michael Connolly, Program Manager, Polyurethane Composites, Huntsman Polyurethanes

The mission of the SPE ACCE is to inform and update the automotive industry about the increasing significance of thermoset and thermoplastic composites in passenger vehicles, light trucks and other modes of ground transportation.
