Huntsman Receives Supplier Award from Toyota Boshoku Europe for its Sustainability Improvement Support

Everberg, Belgium – Huntsman today announced that its automotive team has been given a special Supplier Award by Toyota Boshoku Europe (TBEU), the European HQ of the Japanese automotive component manufacturer. The award recognizes the contribution that Huntsman’s polyurethanes team makes in supporting Toyota Boshoku’s sustainability improvement efforts.

Presenting the award to Huntsman at its annual supplier day, Toyota Boshoku Europe acknowledged Huntsman’s approach and willingness to provide clarity on its polyurethane sustainability roadmap. This includes the provision of transparent product life cycle assessments (LCAs) and clear, realistic timelines for the development of innovative, sustainable products that are designed to reduce carbon emissions in automotive production.

Timothe Rondot, Advanced Development Engineer at Toyota Boshoku Europe, commented: “Huntsman is so far the only chemical supplier we work with that is open about sharing its current LCA data with such precision and transparency thus allowing TBEU to fully utilize and exploit this data. Crucially Huntsman also comments on what it believes is realistic to achieve with a solid delivery timeline.  As a component manufacturer, which is actively trying to reduce its carbon footprint, that’s refreshing and invaluable, in equal measure, and we are grateful for their team’s transparency.”

Huntsman has worked in close cooperation with the team at Toyota Boshoku Europe for the last two decades, providing different polyurethane systems for various vehicle models.

Johan Peters, Account Manager Automotive at Huntsman Polyurethanes, said: “It is a real honor to win another award from Toyota Boshoku Europe – the fourth our team has received in recent years. The award recognizes the calibre of our products. It also celebrates the skills set of our sustainability experts – who do an excellent job in sharing our view on carbon footprint reduction and explaining how our efforts and our product roadmap are aligned with the strategic needs of our customers.”

Huntsman received its award at the Toyota Boshoku Europe Annual Suppliers Meeting, which was held in Belgium in June. The event was attended by more than 50 companies. The latest accolade sits alongside other supplier awards presented by Toyota Boshoku Europe to Huntsman in recent years.

In 2018 Huntsman won a Bronze Supplier Award from Toyota Boshoku Europe for helping to reduce total manufacturing costs and increasing industry competitiveness. This was achieved through the delivery of a training program for Toyota Boshoku’s European production team. In 2021 and 2022, Huntsman won Best Performing Supplier Award for Superior Performance – reinforcing its position as one of the most industrious and reliable companies working with the automotive interior parts manufacturer.

Toyota Boshoku is a leading global automotive component manufacturer, and member of the Toyota Group companies.
